A high risk merchant is determined by the banks dependant on the services that your business offers. If you do MLM's most credit card processing companies will not give you an internet merchant account.
Other services that are considered a high risk merchant account are:
A high risk merchant will usually result in a high chargebacks and refunds. Your merchant account provider is taking a huge risk by accepting your high risk merchant account because the chargeback and refund fees can fall back on your provider. A high risk merchant account is just as easy to get as an e-commerce merchant account.
