Most likely you should get a merchant account for your credit card processing. You have several different kinds of merchant accounts with different rates. Merchant accounts are determinded by whether or not you are retail merchant (brick and motor), internet merchant, mail order merchant or high risk merchant. Rates vary between each one.

A retail merchant account will most likely be a little cheaper for the transaction fee because there is a not as much risk for chargeback fraud. During the transaction at a retail store the consumer swipes their card and the merchant gets the signature from the customer on the spot. This is a lot more difficult to get a chargeback. Web development companies can be at risk for chargeback fraud. Although they do have a little more control of the customers website to work things out between each other, it is still a risk.

An internet merchant or mail order merchant account may have slightly higher transaction fees because the risk of chargeback fraud is much higher. A consumer can purchase an item and never pay or revoke payment through their bank.
